Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s Grand Opening Gala also dubbed as “India’s Met Gala” took place on 31st March 2023 at The Jio World Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex. The event was attended by Bollywood Royalty and Hollywood Stars, Spiritual Leaders and Politicians, Renowned Artists and Sports World Celebrities. NMACC – a first-of-its-kind multi-disciplinary art and culture space opened its gate to the public at large from
April 2023.
Being an admirer of Indian arts and culture, Nita M. Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of NMACC visioned such an institute to promote and preserve the various arts of India. To provide a platform to spotlight Indian Arts and Culture at its best, both for the audience and artists, an inclusive centre for dreamers and creators, for performers and visitors, for one and all, Mrs Ambani along with her daughter Isha Ambani and their team have worked tirelessly the past few years to make this dream project come true.
The guest list of the ceremony included stars from Rekha to Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra to Gigi Hadid, Sonam Kapoor to Emma Chamberlain, Kriti Sanon to Penelope Cruz along with international fashion icons and influencers, world-class photographers, Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Spiritual and leaders like Sadhguru and Gaur Gopal Das.
The NMACC provides an opportunity for all performers and learners to achieve their artistic goals in their spaces.
The Grand Theatre at NMACC has a seating capacity of 2000 including 18 diamond boxes and a stage that is designed to host major travelling productions and touring houses from anywhere across the globe. The Theatre boasts a combination of world-class integrated Dolby Atmos Sound System and Virtual Acoustic System, ingenious seating arrangement and special programmable lighting system enhanced by 8400+ Swarovski Crystals that create a unique yet multidimensional experience. The theatre is also equipped with integrated recording and projection facilities along with dedicated translation booths.
The Studio Theatre, which is both technologically cutting-edge and intimate, is perfect for fascinating performances by both established and up-and-coming artists. The Studio can house an intimate crowd of 250 people featuring a telescopic seating system that allows quick and easy transformation depending on the requirements. It also features a tension wire grid, the first-of-its-kind in India making lighting and rigging during production easier and saving valuable production time. The Studio with its soundproofing capabilities and the world-class Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System brings the audience closer to performances than ever before. It also houses fully integrated video recording and production capabilities, coupled with a robust programming schedule makes this truly a space for people.
With an aim to provide for an intimate crowd of up to 125 people, The Cube encourages and promotes emerging Indian artists from new and Experimental theatre, spoken words and music. The perfect place to organise workshops and intimate sessions, the Cube also features a Panasonic Laser Projection System and Assisted listening system with infrared emitters to make each performance feel more real than ever. The space is a fully integrated video recording and production setup and 5G connectivity, making filming and streaming live performances a lot simpler. The Cube with its unique nature and features adds exclusivity to riveting performances.
The Art House, at NMACC, which is envisioned as the epicentre of Indian and international art, incorporates the beauty of art into commonplace stories. the four-storey, 16000 sq. ft. versatile space is a dedicated art space designed to showcase an array of installations and exhibits that brings the treasures of Indian and global art, culture and history to the audience. The space also opens itself to tech programmes, workshops and educational events. With community building and collaboration at its core, the art house encourages new talent in all fields, truly making it a versatile space to see the world through a wider lens.
The lotus-inspired Fountain of Joy at the centre of The Dhirubhai Ambani is dedicated to the city of dreams, of hope, of joy Mumbai celebrates the vibrant spirit of the city with a spectacular and unforgettable mesmerising combination of the choreographed performance of water, lights and music creating a magical display that is otherworldly. The fountain in and around its 112ft diameter houses 392 nozzles, 664 led lights, 200 mist emitters, 45ft high water jets and 8 fire shooters that bring forth the magical show.
