The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) established the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league, in 2008. Arun Singh Dhumal is chairman of the IPL. Ten franchise teams from various Indian locations compete in the IPL each year between March and May and has an exclusive window
in the ICC Future Tours Programme, meaning that less international cricket take place during the IPL seasons. Some of the top cricket players in the world have come to participate in the league, which has grown to be one of the most well-known and lucrative T20 competitions in the world.
The IPL, the most watched cricket league in the world, came in sixth place overall in terms of average attendance in 2014. The IPL was the first sporting event in history to be streamed live on YouTube in 2010. In 2022, the IPL had a brand value of ₹90,038 crore (US$11 billion). The 2015 IPL season increased India’s GDP by ₹1,150 crores ($140 million), according to the BCCI. According to a study by consulting firm D & P Advisory, the league reached a decacorn status in December 2022 and was worth $10.9 billion, representing a 75% increase in dollar terms from 2020, when it was worth $6.2 billion.
The competition has had fifteen seasons. The Gujarat Titans are the current champions after defeating the Rajasthan Royals in the championship game of the 2022 season.

IPL is just pure, intense. You don’t need all the other stuff. I don’t believe in coaches in International Cricket.

The Titans’ first victory came during their maiden campaign, which saw them go on to win 10 of their last 14 group games and qualify at the top of the standings with 20 points. Then, after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the qualifying round, they triumphed against Rajasthan Royals in the opening qualifier. They would later face Rajasthan Royals in the final.

Pandya has received appreciation from detractors for his leadership, bowling, and batting, and many of them concur that he and the management made good use of their players and collaborated to win the competition.
With this victory, Gujarat joined their final opponents, Rajasthan Royals, as the only teams to win the IPL in their inaugural year. Nevertheless, Gujarat made IPL history by being the first club to win the championship in their very first game against opponents who had already been competing since 2008. Having won the previous four with the Mumbai Indians, this victory marks Hardik’s fifth IPL championship overall and first as captain.

Over the course of the year, the team’s squad included some great Twenty20 players, like Ravindra Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, and Mahela Jayawardene, among others. However, the franchise encountered a number of problems, including a disagreement over the ownership structure with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a failure to make payments to its players and other stakeholders.
